“I’m not burned out. I’m just empty”
That’s how a VP I recently worked with described himself.
Not after a crisis.
Not after a failure.
After an exceptionally successful quarter.
The goals were achieved.
The results were outstanding.
From the outside, everything looked perfect.
But on the inside, he felt drained.
This is the hardest kind of burnout to recognize.
Because it doesn’t look like a breakdown.
It looks like success.
When we’re so busy managing, solving problems, and leading others, we stop pausing to ask:
Where am I really headed?
What matters most to me right now?
And who am I becoming along the way?
Sometimes what leaders need isn’t another tool or strategy.
It’s the ability to step out of the race.
Not to do less – but to reconnect with what truly drives them.
And from that place, lead with greater purpose, clarity, and presence.
When was the last time you paused to reflect on yourself as a leader and ask the questions only you can answer?
This is exactly why I’m opening the WORTH Leadership Forum on September 6th – for leaders, founders, and CEOs.
A space to step out of the daily noise, reflect on the questions that matter most, and navigate complexity together with other leaders.
