The Power of This Moment: A Lesson in Perspective

Do you know that moment when suddenly everything clicks, and you see the bigger picture – and in an instant, everything changes?

That’s precisely what happened to me on a holiday evening, when my dear mother-in-law gave me a gift that was deeply connected to my work and worldview.

When she handed me the gift, which looked like a clock with the words “This Moment” written on it (in Hebrew), I was pleasantly surprised by her thoughtfulness.

I admired the beautiful inscription, and she explained that she had bought it for my upcoming birthday in a few weeks, but couldn’t wait to give it to me.

I thanked her for the gesture, but I still didn’t fully understand her excitement.

She gave me a battery, and the “clock” started working. I thanked her again and mentioned I’d probably take it to my office, since I already have a clock at home.

Later that evening, after the guests had left, I looked at it again – and to my surprise, I noticed it had only one hand and didn’t actually tell the time.

I wondered to myself if I was missing something; maybe I had forgotten how to read an analog clock. For a brief moment, I doubted myself.

But when my partner confirmed it wasn’t me, it was the clock – the realization hit me: it wasn’t really a clock at all.

It was a piece of art, brilliantly illustrating what I so deeply believe in – the power of this moment.

In that instant, my excitement grew, and I could suddenly see the genius of the gift.

This experience reminded me how often we get caught up in the small details, to the point where we miss the bigger picture- the meaning that lies beyond the daily tasks and constant doing.

It is precisely there, on the broader perspective, that we find inspiration, wonder, aliveness, and true meaning.

So, with a little delay, I wish us all a Happy New Year 💛🥂✨🎗️

And may we remember, even in the midst of everyday life, to pause, breathe, and reconnect again and again to the broader perspective – the one that inspires, excites, and calls us to meaningful action ❣️
